Production Proposals

Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre chooses its season from production proposals submitted by the community. While we strive to announce our seasons on a yearly schedule, we accept proposals on a rolling basis. If you are a theatre artist with an exciting idea, share it with us using the following process!

What We’re Looking For:

  • Captivating Musicals and Operas: While interested in producing all forms of musical drama, FLOT has a history of successfully producing classic Broadway musicals and timeless light opera.

  • A complete idea: FLOT works best with creative teams that have focused intentionality and a clear directorial vision.

  • Innovation and Creativity: We encourage fresh, imaginative takes on classic works.

  • FLOT solicits productions that span from large ensemble operettas to intimate two-handers.

Proposal Requirements:

  • Show Details: Provide a comprehensive overview of your proposed show, including a brief synopsis, themes.

  • Personnel: Describe the team you’ll assemble, including a director, music director, stage manager, designers and any other key roles.

  • Resumes: Include resumes for the Director and Music Director.

  • Sample Budget: Present a proposed budget for what you think it will take to produce this show.

  • Venue Needs: Share your vision for the venue, design and technical requirements.

  • Cast and Musicians: Outline the casting requirements and musicians needed for your production.

Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre is delighted to accept Production Proposals for the upcoming 2025–2026 Season and beyond. This form may be used for fundraising and outreach events, small and Mainstage productions, collaborative projects between multiple organizations and more. 

A Proposal is the first step. FLOT will use this information as a jumping off point to develop their season. After submission, please be ready to enter into conversation with the FLOT Board of Directors to discuss the project.

TIMELINE

We hope to review your Proposal a minimum of 6 months prior to your hopeful production date. However, we encourage as much advance notice as possible for projects with a larger scope and may make exceptions for smaller projects. 

DEADLINE for Fall 2025 Production: January 15, 2025

The advancement of your Proposal is entirely up to the discretion of the FLOT BOD.
